One Order Gang Leader Killed in Police Shootout

Spanish Town, St. Catherine - The reputed leader of the Spanish Town-based One Order gang was fatally shot by police during a confrontation on Wednesday,  January 23, 2024. The incident occurred on Washington Boulevard in St Andrew. when law enforcement officers attempted to apprehend the individual.

According to police reports, the deceased, Othneil Lobban, otherwise called ‘Thick Man, was wanted in connection with a series of violent crimes, including murder and shootings. During the encounter, a shootout ensued, resulting in the fatal wounding of the gang leader.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has been notified of the incident and is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

The death of Thick man comes amidst a recent spike in gang-related violence in the Spanish Town area. Community members have expressed mixed reactions to the incident, with some expressing concern over the use of lethal force, while others believe it sends a strong message to criminals.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has reiterated its commitment to combating gang violence and maintaining law and order in the parish.
